23rd August 2011

The pump has arrived in Harare apparently but still needs to have the duty paid etc. Lord willing it will arrive today. We are meant to be going away for a week with the Edwards’, a much needed break, but we can’t leave until the pump is installed and the seeds planted.

I read something today in John Eldredge’s book “Walking with God” about joy.

Joy is essential! We need lots of it. Wagonloads. Bucketfuls. We live a life of battle and without joy we become drained, sucked dry.

2 Corinthians 4:8-9 ~ ‘We are pressed on every side by troubles, but not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down but we are not destroyed.’

If you walk with God, you will find yourself called up to the real thing. Intense battle! Authentic joy! The battle will find you. But you have to be intentional about the joy!

I hope this finds you joyful today! If not I pray you find it. And when you find it, be aware that something will try to steal it away from you again – that is the battle. But be intentional to keep it!

While writing all of this there have been a few issues with the guys here. Matt came in from the field annoyed and voila, my joy was stolen!!! I choose it back though! I choose to be intentional about it. Joy is mine!
